The Need for Healthcare in Smith County
There are around 27,000 uninsured adults without access to basic healthcare in Tyler and its surrounding communities. Also, there are around 9,000 children living below the poverty line and likely eligible for Medicaid.
In the U.S., an average of 9.6% of adults are uninsured, but in Smith County, that number is nearly double at 18.6%!
This means thousands of our neighbors are unable to access essential medical care. With your help, they find life-changing healthcare at Bethesda.
Through this expansion, we anticipate being able to serve 13,200 unique patients initially, with 48,000 medical and dental visits per year.
We believe that we will eventually serve 19,600 unique patients with 64,000 patient visits per year.

I really give a lot of my success to Bethesda, because the people here literally gave me my life back and I am happy to be alive now.

Volunteering at Bethesda Pediatrics has been an absolute privilege. I'm grateful to be healthy and retired - and not quite ready to stop seeing kids! Getting to serve here is just a blast. From a medical perspective, I don't know a better way to care for "the least of these." It takes a lot to support a clinic like this, and I hope people see the incredible value their support brings.
Hope Begins With a Smile
Access to affordable dental care remains a significant concern in East Texas. A 2023 survey targeting low-income households in Smith County revealed that 29% of participants lacked adequate dental care. This persistent gap highlights the ongoing challenges residents face in obtaining necessary dental services.
Bethesda Health Clinic plays a pivotal role in addressing this gap by providing affordable dental services to underserved East Texans. With your help, individuals who might otherwise forgo dental care due to financial constraints receive the attention they need.
Featuring 16 modern patient rooms and a streamlined setup that allows children and adults to be seen in the same space, our new dental clinic will boost efficiency and dramatically reduce wait times. With your help, we will increase our capacity by 1.5 times, expanding from 10,477 annual patient visits to more than 15,716. That's thousands more East Texans receiving life-changing dental care!
Adult Dental Services
In 2025, Bethesda provided 3,693 non-emergency adult dental visits, 848 adult emergency visits, and 2,234 adult hygiene visits. Bethesda provides dental services to adults of all ages including adults aged 65 and over on Medicare.
I was homeless for 40 years and had only been to the dentist twice in my life. The dentists come out and smile, and make you feel warm inside. They just open their hearts up to you, and they don't judge us for where we've been or what we've done.
Children Served in 2025
Love Dr. Price & Bethesda Health Clinic! He along with the whole pediatric team have loved on all my foster kiddos and now my "foster grands" for years. That office is steeped in genuine love for kids.
Caring For Our Smallest Neighbors
Bethesda Pediatrics was established in 2023 as an expansion of Bethesda Health Clinic, following the integration of St. Paul Children's Medical and Dental Services. This strategic move allowed us to broaden our impact and provide enhanced pediatric care to better serve the children in our community.
In 2025, Bethesda Pediatrics provided 4,347 pediatric dental and hygiene visits.
I love our Bethesda family. It's a group of people who serve patients because of the love Jesus has shown them. Every day, that love spills over into exam rooms, counseling sessions, and quiet moments of prayer and hope.
Exceptional Volunteer Service
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Bethesda, giving their time and talents to serve our patients with compassion and care. With more space, we can welcome more volunteers, expand specialty services, and reduce patient wait times. Our new facility will also provide dedicated areas to train and equip future medical professionals, multiplying the impact of every act of service for generations to come.
